// SMC Toolkit + VWAP Bands + Session Setups + Swing Detector — Complete Guide

What the USME VWAP Suite Delivers

The USME VWAP Suite merges five institutional detection systems into a single ThinkScript indicator: an Order Flow Detector, a Smart Money Bias Engine, an SMC Toolkit with scoring, a Daily-Anchored VWAP with Standard Deviation Bands, a Session Setups Engine (Silver Bullet, Asia Breakout, NY Defense), and the Signal-of-the-Day (SOTD) Engine. Together they answer one question — is this the moment institutions are moving, and in which direction?

🟩

Order Flow Detector

Tracks Order Blocks, Fair Value Gaps, CHoCH/BOS events, and liquidity sweeps. Paints mitigation clouds that disappear when zones are filled. Sponsoring Candle (SC) and Inversion FVG (iFVG) bubbles included.

📊

Smart Money Bias Engine

Reads four timeframes — 5M/15M, 1H, 4H, and Weekly — to determine directional bias. Outputs STRUCT:UP/DN, 1H/4H/W labels, and the key HTF:ALIGNED confirmation.

🎯

SMC Toolkit + Signals

Calculates the 0–100% Smart Money Score from 7 weighted components. Renders BUY/SELL bubbles with ATR-based stops and targets. Includes △ Fade alerts and EMA pullback signals.

📐

VWAP Suite New

Daily-anchored VWAP with 1σ, 2σ, and 3σ standard deviation bands. Acts as the institutional value-area reference. Price relative to VWAP determines intraday fair-value context.

Session Setups New

Three dedicated session-based strategies: Asia Breakout, London Silver Bullet (8–9 AM), and NY Defense Leg. Each has its own trigger logic, score threshold, and alert sound.

SOTD Engine

Identifies and tiers the day's highest-conviction setup into WATCH, PRIME, or ELITE. Fires distinct alerts (Bell / Chimes / Ring) for each tier. Resets daily.

Five Questions the VWAP Suite Answers
01

Where Is Institutional Structure?

The Order Flow Detector maps every active OB and FVG zone with mitigation clouds. SC bubbles mark the exact BOS bar that created each Order Block. As long as a cloud is visible, the zone is valid and unmitigated.

02

Which Direction Are Institutions Positioned?

The four-tier HTF cascade — Weekly → 4H → 1H → LTF — establishes directional conviction. When the HTF:ALIGNED label is green, institutional money across two primary timeframes agrees on direction.

03

Where Does Price Stand Relative to Institutional Value?

The daily VWAP with standard deviation bands shows the volume-weighted fair price. Price above VWAP + 2σ is overextended; price near VWAP is equilibrium. The VWAP bands add a second premium/discount framework independent of the EQ line.

04

Is a Specific Session Setup Triggering?

Three session-based strategies fire independently from the master signal: Asia Breakout, London Silver Bullet, and NY Defense Leg. Each scans for sweeps of prior-session extremes within a defined time window and requires score ≥ 50%.

05

Is This the Best Setup of the Day?

The SOTD Engine evaluates every signal against three tiers. WATCH fires on a valid signal. PRIME fires when the full SMC stack is present. ELITE fires when HTF alignment is confirmed — the rarest, highest-conviction designation.

Engine Architecture & VWAP Suite Modules

The VWAP Suite adds three major new modules to the core USME architecture: a daily-anchored VWAP with standard deviation bands, a session-range tracker, and a dedicated session-setups engine. Understanding how these integrate with the existing SMC framework prevents signal misinterpretation.

Signal Generation Flow

On every bar close, the engine runs two parallel signal paths plus three session-specific scan paths:

Path A — Master SMC Signal
1

Premium/Discount gate — price must be in discount (buys) or premium (sells)

2

SMC Stack check — sweepL + bullBOS + CHoCH + FVG or OB within confirmBars (5)

3

Score gate — Smart Money Score must be ≥ scoreThresh (60%)

4

BUY/SELL bubble renders. SOTD Engine evaluates tier.

Path B — EMA Pullback Signal
1

EMA 9/14/21 stack is aligned (trendUp or trendDown)

2

Price touches EMA21 then closes back above (bull) or below (bear) it

3

Score ≥ scoreThresh−10 (50%), volOK, RSI in range, MACD directional confirmation

4

Same BUY/SELL bubble as Path A — trend continuation entry

New Visual Elements in the VWAP Suite
Visual ElementWhat It MeansHow to Use It
VWAP line CYAN DASHED Daily-anchored Volume-Weighted Average Price. Resets each trading day. The institutional "fair value" reference. Price above VWAP = bullish intraday context. Price below = bearish. Retests of VWAP are high-probability entry zones.
VWAP ±1σ bands DARK GREEN/RED First standard deviation envelope. Contains ~68% of volume-weighted price action. Mean-reversion targets. Price tends to revisit VWAP after touching ±1σ.
VWAP ±2σ bands GREEN/RED Second standard deviation envelope. Contains ~95% of volume-weighted price action. Overextension zone. Price at ±2σ is statistically stretched — watch for reversals or continuations with volume.
VWAP ±3σ bands LIME/PINK Third standard deviation envelope. Contains ~99.7% of volume-weighted price action. Extreme outlier zone. Price here is unsustainable in the short term. High-probability fade or climax setup.
SB bubble CYAN/MAGENTA Silver Bullet setup — London high/low swept within the 8–9 AM window with FVG + trend + zone confirmation. High-probability reversal entry. SB Long = sweep of prev London low + bullish structure. SB Short = sweep of prev London high + bearish structure.
NYDef bubble WHITE ARROW NY Defense Leg — volume-spike test of previous NY high/low during 8 AM–12 PM with trend alignment. Institutional defense of a prior session extreme. White arrow + "NYDef" label. Highest-conviction session setup.
Asia↑ / Asia↓ bubble Asia Breakout — price breaks above/below prior Asia session high/low after Asia closes, with trend alignment and score ≥ 50%. Early-session breakout trade. Asia range sets the initial day's structure. Breakout confirms directional intent.
Rev↑ / Rev↓ bubble GREEN/RED Swing Reversal — non-repainting swing detector confirms a pivot reversal. Requires swingConfirmBars (2) for validation. Structural pivot confirmation. Use to validate CHoCH events and identify key swing levels for stop placement.
⚠️

All signals are bar-close only. The USME VWAP Suite evaluates conditions at bar close — not on a forming candle. Session setups (SB, NYDef, Asia Breakout) also trigger on bar close. Never enter mid-bar on a signal that "looks like it's forming."

The Smart Money Score System

The 0–100% scoring system uses seven independently weighted components. The minimum threshold for any master signal is 60% (scoreThresh). Session setups use a lower threshold of 50% (sessionScoreMin) because the session window itself adds contextual weight. Higher scores mean more institutional confluence — and larger position size.

The Seven Score Components

ComponentPointsTrigger ConditionWeight Rationale
CHoCH / Structural Shift +25 A Change of Character (trendState flip) has occurred in the signal direction Maximum weight — CHoCH is the structural admission that institutions have reversed. Without it, you are entering before confirmation.
Liquidity Sweep +20 sweepL (buys) or sweepH (sells) — price wicks past a recent extreme and closes back inside. Detected via three methods: prior close range, prior day's high/low, prior candle extreme. Second-highest weight. The sweep is the liquidity hunt that funds the institutional reversal.
Fair Value Gap Present +15 An active FVG cloud is present. Cloud must still be showing (unmitigated). Candle range must exceed ATR × fvgDispMult (1.2). FVG confirms price traveled with imbalance. Magnet effect adds directional probability.
Order Block Present +15 An active OB mitigation cloud is present at or near the signal bar. OB confirming candle must exceed ATR × obDispMult (1.0). OB marks the accumulation zone. Mitigated OBs (cloud gone) no longer score.
Volume Spike +10 Signal bar volume > avgVol × volMult × 1.2 (combined threshold) Institutional-level volume confirms large order execution, not retail activity.
Session / Killzone +10 Signal fires inside London Open (2–5 AM ET) or NY Open (9:30 AM–12:00 PM ET) Institutional desks are active. Killzone timing dramatically increases probability of follow-through.
Daily Bias Confirmed +5 Current close is above prior day's high (D:BULL) or below prior day's low (D:BEAR). D:RANGE = no points. Supporting factor only. Confirms price has broken out of the prior day's range.

Score Grade Matrix

⚡ ELITE

85–100%

Maximum confluence. All components strongly aligned. Full position size (1–2% risk).

★ PRIME

70–84%

Full SMC stack. 5–6 components present. Standard risk (0.75–1%).

◈ WATCH

60–69%

Minimum threshold for master signal. Valid — proceed with reduced size (0.5% risk).

✗ No Signal

< 60%

Insufficient confluence for master signal. Session setups can still fire at ≥ 50%.

💡

Session setups use a lower threshold: The sessionScoreMin default is 50%. Asia Breakout, Silver Bullet, and NY Defense Leg each require score ≥ 50% because the session timing itself provides additional contextual weight that isn't captured in the score components. A 55% score Silver Bullet during the 8–9 AM window carries more weight than a 55% score at 2 PM.

Multi-Timeframe Bias Logic

The VWAP Suite reads four timeframes — Weekly, 4H, 1H, and the entry TF. The Weekly context sits at the top of the hierarchy. The dashboard now includes comprehensive labels for Trend, STRUCT, 1H, 4H, W, RSI, Vol, MACD, Premium/Discount, Session, SMT, Daily Bias, CHOCH, and SCORE.

The Four-Tier Timeframe Cascade
W

Tier 0 — Weekly: The Macro Blueprint

Reads: Weekly close direction (wkBull / wkBear — current week vs. prior week close). Dashboard label: W:BULL or W:BEAR. Used in the SOTD ELITE tier check. Weekly alignment is logged in the ELITE alert message: "Weekly=" + (if wkBull then "Bull" else "Bear").

4H

Tier 1 — 4H / 1H: The Bias Engine (Primary Authority)

Reads: 4H close direction (htfBull/htfBear) and 1H swing structure (HTFtrend). When both agree, HTF:ALIGNED activates. The dashboard now includes dedicated 1H:BULL/BEAR and 4H:BULL/BEAR labels plus the combined HTF:ALIGNED indicator.

D

Tier 2 — Daily: The Bias Gate

Reads: Whether current close is above prior day's high (D:BULL), below prior day's low (D:BEAR), or inside range (D:RANGE). D:RANGE means the daily bias +5 component is not scoring.

5M

Tier 3 — 5M / 15M: The Execution Layer

Where BUY/SELL, SB, NYDef, and Asia Breakout bubbles appear. The engine monitors sweeps, OB/FVG zones, CHoCH events, EMA stack alignment, and score thresholds on the entry timeframe.

SB — Silver Bullet

Window: 8:00–9:00 AM ET (sbStart–sbEnd). Trigger: Sweep of previous London high/low within window + FVG active + trendState aligned + inDisc/inPrem + score ≥ 50%. Bubble: "SB" in Cyan (Long) or Magenta (Short). Alert: Bell + "Silver Bullet BUY/SELL | Prelim.High/Low swept".

🛡️

NYDef — NY Defense Leg

Window: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM ET. Trigger: Volume spike (volume > avgVol × 1.5) + test of previous NY high/low + trend aligned + score ≥ 50%. Bubble: White arrow + "NYDef". Alert: Chimes + "NY Defense BUY/SELL | Retest NY Low/High".

🌏

Asia↑/↓ — Asia Breakout

Window: After Asia session ends. Trigger: Price breaks above prevAsiaHi or below prevAsiaLo + trendState aligned + score ≥ 50%. Bubble: "Asia↑" (Green) or "Asia↓" (Red). Alert: Bell + "Asia Breakout UP/DN".

⚠️

Session setups are additive, not替代. A single bar can trigger both a master BUY signal and an SB Long if all conditions align. When a session setup fires alongside a master signal, it upgrades the conviction level — treat it as a +1 tier bump in your sizing decision.

The VWAP Suite — Daily Value-Area Framework

The Daily-Anchored VWAP with Standard Deviation Bands is entirely new in the VWAP Suite. It provides a second, independent premium/discount framework — separate from the 50-bar EQ line — based on volume-weighted fair price. Institutions use VWAP as their primary intraday reference; the engine now surfaces this directly on your chart.

VWAP Calculation & Band Construction

The VWAP is calculated from the start of each trading day (newDay reset via GetYYYYMMDD()). It uses the typical price (hlc3) weighted by volume. Standard deviation bands are computed from the cumulative volume-weighted variance:

# Daily-anchored VWAP
rec vwapNum = if newDay then hlc3 * volume else vwapNum[1] + hlc3 * volume;
rec vwapDen = if newDay then volume else vwapDen[1] + volume;
def VWAP_Daily = vwapNum / vwapDen;

# Standard deviation bands
rec vwapVarNum = if newDay then Sqr(hlc3 - VWAP_Daily) * volume else vwapVarNum[1] + Sqr(hlc3 - VWAP_Daily) * volume;
def vwapStdDev = Sqrt(vwapVarNum / vwapDen);
plot VWAP_upper1 = VWAP_Daily + 1.0 * vwapStdDev;
plot VWAP_upper2 = VWAP_Daily + 2.0 * vwapStdDev;
plot VWAP_upper3 = VWAP_Daily + 3.0 * vwapStdDev;
VWAP Band Reference
BandPlot StyleStatistical CoverageTrading Interpretation
VWAP Line CYAN · SHORT DASH Volume-weighted fair price Institutional reference. Price above = bullish intraday. Price below = bearish. Retests are high-probability entry zones.
±1σ Bands DARK GREEN / DARK RED · LONG DASH ~68% of volume-weighted range Normal value area. Price oscillates between ±1σ in balanced conditions. Mean-reversion targets.
±2σ Bands GREEN / RED · LONG DASH ~95% of volume-weighted range Overextension threshold. Price at ±2σ is statistically stretched. Watch for reversal setups with SMC confirmation.
±3σ Bands LIME / PINK · LONG DASH ~99.7% of volume-weighted range Extreme outlier. Price here is unsustainable. High-probability fade or climax setup. Rarely touched — maybe 1–2× per week.

VWAP + SMC Confluence Framework

The VWAP bands add a second premium/discount layer that works alongside the 50-bar EQ line. The strongest setups occur when both frameworks agree:

Double Discount

Price is below EQ line (discount) AND below VWAP (value discount). BUY signals here have maximum structural support. Institutions are likely accumulating at a value discount.

Double Premium

Price is above EQ line (premium) AND above VWAP (value premium). SELL signals here have maximum structural resistance. Institutions are likely distributing at a value premium.

⚠️

Mixed Signals

Price in discount (EQ) but above VWAP, or in premium (EQ) but below VWAP. The frameworks disagree — reduce size or wait for resolution. One framework is temporarily distorted.

📐

VWAP is dynamic throughout the day. Unlike the EQ line (fixed 50-bar high/low midpoint), VWAP recalculates with every trade. Early in the day, VWAP can shift significantly as volume builds. By midday, it stabilizes. The bands also widen or narrow based on intraday volatility — wider bands = higher dispersion = larger stops may be warranted.

Session Setups — Asia, Silver Bullet & NY Defense

The VWAP Suite introduces three dedicated session-based strategies. Each is independently coded with its own trigger logic, score threshold (sessionScoreMin = 50%), alert sound, and visual bubble. These setups fire in addition to — not instead of — the master BUY/SELL signals.

Setup 1 — Asia Breakout
Asia Breakout UP
1

Asia session has ended. prevAsiaHi is now fixed.

2

Price closes above prevAsiaHi: c > prevAsiaHi

3

trendState == 1 (bullish structure) + score ≥ 50%

4

Green arrow + "Asia↑" bubble. Alert: "Asia Breakout UP"

Asia Breakdown DN
1

Asia session ends. prevAsiaLo is now fixed.

2

Price closes below prevAsiaLo: c < prevAsiaLo

3

trendState == -1 (bearish structure) + score ≥ 50%

4

Red arrow + "Asia↓" bubble. Alert: "Asia Breakdown DN"

Setup 2 — London Silver Bullet (8:00–9:00 AM ET)
SB Long — Silver Bullet Buy
1

Within 8:00–9:00 AM ET window (sbStart–sbEnd)

2

Sweep of previous London low: l < prevLonLo and c > prevLonLo

3

trendState == 1 + FVG active + inDisc + score ≥ 50%

4

Cyan arrow + "SB" bubble. Alert: Chimes

SB Short — Silver Bullet Sell
1

Within 8:00–9:00 AM ET window

2

Sweep of previous London high: h > prevLonHi and c < prevLonHi

3

trendState == -1 + FVG active + inPrem + score ≥ 50%

4

Magenta arrow + "SB" bubble. Alert: Chimes

Setup 3 — NY Defense Leg (8:00 AM–12:00 PM ET)
NYDef Long — NY Defense Buy
1

Within 8:00 AM–12:00 PM ET window (nyOverlap)

2

Volume spike: volume > avgVol × 1.5 — institutional participation

3

Test of previous NY low: l <= prevNYLo + bullish candle (c > o)

4

trendState == 1 + score ≥ 50%. White arrow + "NYDef". Alert: Chimes

NYDef Short — NY Defense Sell
1

Within 8:00 AM–12:00 PM ET window

2

Volume spike: volume > avgVol × 1.5

3

Test of previous NY high: h >= prevNYHi + bearish candle (c < o)

4

trendState == -1 + score ≥ 50%. White arrow + "NYDef". Alert: Chimes

💡

Session Setup Hierarchy: NY Defense Leg carries the highest conviction of the three — it combines a volume spike (institutional presence) with a prior-session extreme test. Silver Bullet is second (time-boxed, sweeps a prior extreme, requires FVG). Asia Breakout is third (simplest trigger — break of Asia range with trend alignment). When multiple fire on the same bar, prioritize the highest in the hierarchy for sizing.

Non-Repainting Swing Detector

The VWAP Suite includes a non-repainting swing high/low detector designed to validate structural pivots without the false signals that plague simpler swing indicators. It uses confirmation bars, ATR-based minimum move filters, and reversal detection to identify genuine swing points.

How the Swing Detector Works

01

Pending Swing Detection

A pending swing high is registered when h > Highest(h[1], swingLookback) — the current high exceeds all highs of the last 5 bars. A pending swing low is registered when l < Lowest(l[1], swingLookback). These are pending — not yet confirmed.

02

Confirmation Bar Delay

The detector waits swingConfirmBars (default: 2) bars after a pending signal before evaluating. This is the non-repainting mechanism. On bar N, it evaluates the pending signal from bar N−2. The 2-bar delay ensures the swing is structural, not noise.

03

Fold-Based Validation

During the confirmation window, a fold loop checks that no intervening bar exceeds (for highs) or undercuts (for lows) the candidate pivot. If any bar violates the pivot within the confirmation window, the candidate is invalidated.

04

Minimum Move Filter

A validated swing must also clear the minimum move threshold: minMove = atrSwing × swingATRMult (default: 10-period ATR × 1.0). The swing high must be at least minMove above the prior swing high; the swing low must be at least minMove below the prior swing low.

Swing Reversal Detection
Rev↑ — Bullish Reversal

Fires when swingDir flips from −1 to +1 — a swing low confirms after a series of lower lows, indicating a structural reversal to the upside.

Bubble: "Rev↑" in green below the bar. Also plots a light green horizontal line (revBot) tracking the reversal low. If sellsig == 1 at the time, this confirms the short-momentum period is ending.

Rev↓ — Bearish Reversal

Fires when swingDir flips from +1 to −1 — a swing high confirms after a series of higher highs, indicating a structural reversal to the downside.

Bubble: "Rev↓" in red above the bar. Plots a light red horizontal line (revTop) tracking the reversal high. If buysig == 1 at the time, this confirms the long-momentum period is ending.

Swing Detector Integration with SMC
Use CaseHow to ApplyBenefit
Validate CHoCH A CHoCH event should coincide with or closely follow a swing reversal (Rev↑ or Rev↓). If CHoCH fires but the swing detector hasn't flipped, the structural shift may be premature. Reduces false CHoCH entries. Swing confirmation adds a second structural layer.
Stop Placement Place stops beyond the most recent swing high/low line rather than an arbitrary ATR multiple. The swing lines represent structural invalidation points. Structurally-informed stops reduce premature stop-outs while maintaining logical invalidation.
Trend Continuation In a trend, each new swing high (uptrend) or swing low (downtrend) that clears the minimum move confirms trend health. Failure to make a new swing = trend exhaustion. Early warning of trend weakening before a full CHoCH reversal occurs.
Reversal Line Tracking The revTop and revBot lines persist until the opposite momentum signal (buysig/sellsig) ends. These lines mark the structural boundary of the current swing leg. Visual reference for the active swing structure. Break of a reversal line = structural invalidation.
📌

Swing Confirm Bars = 2 means a 3-bar total delay. The pending signal registers on bar 0. Confirmation happens on bar 2 (2 bars later = swingConfirmBars). The pivot price used is from bar 0. This is the minimum delay that achieves non-repainting behavior while keeping the signal timely for 5M/15M trading.

SMT Divergence & Session Filters

SMT Divergence reveals institutional manipulation through inter-market comparison. Session filters ensure the engine rewards signals when institutional desks are most active. The VWAP Suite adds comprehensive session-range tracking — Asia, London, and NY highs/lows are stored and used by the session setups.

Live Trade Execution — The Seven-Step Workflow

Every time the USME VWAP Suite generates a signal — master or session setup — run the seven steps below in order. The VWAP bands and session context add two new checks to the standard workflow.

01

Check the HTF Bias Dashboard

Read W:, 4H:, 1H:, HTF:ALIGNED, TREND, and STRUCT labels. If HTF:ALIGNED is green and matches signal direction — full conviction. If HTF:-- — halve position size. Verify TREND:▲/▼ and STRUCT:UP/DN match the signal direction.

02

Check VWAP Context (NEW)

Where is price relative to VWAP? For a BUY: price below VWAP = value discount (ideal). Price above VWAP but in discount (EQ) = mixed — reduce size. For a SELL: price above VWAP = value premium (ideal). Also note which σ band price is near — ±2σ or ±3σ = overextended, expect mean reversion.

03

Identify the ICT Zone

Is an active OB cloud or FVG cloud still visible? Is there an SC bubble confirming the OB origin? Stacked OB + FVG is the most powerful configuration. No zone = unclear structural premise — skip or reduce to minimum size.

04

Read and Grade the Score

For master signals: ≥ 85% = ELITE size · 70–84% = standard · 60–69% = reduced. For session setups: score ≥ 50% is the gate. A session setup with 55% that also has HTF:ALIGNED + VWAP confluence can be treated as a standard-size trade.

05

Identify the Signal Type

Is this a master BUY/SELL, EMA pullback, SB, NYDef, or Asia Breakout? Master signals carry the full SMC stack weight. Session setups carry the time-window + session-extreme weight. A bar that fires both a master BUY and an SB Long is a dual-confirmation — treat as +1 tier.

06

Check SMT, Swing, and SOTD Tier

SMT:BULL on a buy signal = inter-market confirmation. Swing reversal (Rev↑/Rev↓) within the last 5 bars = structural confirmation. SOTD tier: ELITE = full size · PRIME = standard · WATCH = minimum. These are bonus layers — none are required but each adds conviction.

07

Execute and Manage

Entry: signal bar close. Stop: BuyStop/SellStop level (2× ATR). Target: BuyTarget/SellTarget level (3× ATR). During trade: △ Fade = tighten stop. Rev↑/Rev↓ against position = exit immediately. Log: signal type, score %, VWAP position, session, SOTD tier, zone type, SMT, result.

The SOTD Engine — Signal-of-the-Day Tiers

The Signal-of-the-Day Engine classifies each day's highest-quality setup into WATCH, PRIME, or ELITE. Once a higher tier fires, the dashboard label upgrades and stays at the highest tier reached for the day. The VWAP Suite's session setups feed into the SOTD engine alongside master signals.
